Mail Server Issue -
Resolved.
The mail server issue from earlier today has been
resolved. You should once again be able to login to your email. All the incoming
mail is now being processed and should be delivered to your mailboxes in the next few hours.
01/19/2012 - Mail Server Issue. Late this afternoon, we learned there was a problem with the idcomm mail server. Brian is looking into the issue now but has not given us an ETA yet on the fix. However Brian is very good and usually has these things taken care of pretty quickly, so please do NOT adjust any settings in your email programs. As soon as the problem is resolved, your email should start working again. - Thank you! :) 01/17/2012 - Mail Temporarily Deferred by Yahoo. Thought we do not have specific information this time, it appears that two or three idComm email users may have been victims of another phishing email as their accounts were used to send large amounts of spam last night. Yahoo mail servers currently are deferring mail sent from the idcomm.com server. However since the spam has stopped and we have submitted the appropriate forms to Yahoo mail administrators, we expect that this condition will be alleviated within the next 48 hours. 01/05/2012 - On Vacation! Susie and I are driving out to South Carolina where we'll be on vacation through about the first week of February. While we'll still be working and returning calls, we will not be putting in as many hours as normal. So if you call and leave a message on our voice mail, please be aware that there will be times when it may take us a while to get back to you. However we will return your call as soon as we can. We appreciate your understanding, and as always, thank you for choosing SOS4Net. - Scott 11/24/2011 - Another Phishing Attempt This Morning! It's been brought to our attention that again, early this morning, someone sent a phishing email to idComm.com email users. Subject: Update From: idComm Support Web-Admin (actual email address: infos@hospitaldabaleia.org.br) Sends you to: englishplaylab.com (obviously not idcomm.com or sos4net.com) The email says that the user's account has been deactivated and that they need to go to a particular web address and fill out a form to be reinstated. This is interesting in and of itself considering they expect you to get their information by email. Once again, we will NEVER, EVER ask you to verify your account in this manner. We may ask you to contact us by phone or by email depending upon the situation, but we will never ask for that type of verification over the internet. If you actually filled out that form, PLEASE contact us immediately because your email account may have been compromised, and your password will need to be changed as soon as possible. 10/25/2011 - Everything Working Again! As of about 3:00pm, the mail server is back up and everything seems to be functioning properly. To our knowledge, no email was lost, only delayed. Once again we apologize for the inconvenience this incident may have caused. 10/25/2011 - Mail Server Problems... This morning at about 8:30am, we were made aware that idcomm.com email was not working properly. Upon initial investigation we discovered that there was indeed a problem with the mail server itself. As of 2pm our techs have not yet found a solution, but we're confident that one will be forthcoming. We will post more information here as it becomes available to us. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding during this period of difficulty. 08/06/2011 - EMAIL DEACTIVATION COMPLETE... As of today, all idcomm.com email addresses associated with billing accounts for those who have not contacted SOS4Net have been deactivated. So if your email program normally remembers your login credentials and is now prompting you to login or if you are unable to access your webmail, you must contact Scott or Susie at SOS4Net (303-796-3000) to have your email reactivated. While deactivated, email still will be delivered to the mailboxes on the server, but users will not be able to send out through or retrieve messages from their idcomm.com email addresses. Starting September 1, we will begin deleting dormant email addresses. Once an email address has been deleted, any messages left on the server for that address will be lost! 07/12/2011 - EMAIL DEACTIVATION CONTINUES... As of today, idcomm.com email addresses for those who have not contacted SOS4Net have been deactivated for former billing account UserIDs beginning with "A" through those that being with "M". The former billing account UserID may or may not be the same as the first part of your email address. Also some billing accounts had more than one email address associated with them. So if your email program normally remembers your login credentials and is now prompting you to login, you need to contact Scott or Susie at SOS4Net to have your email reactivated. While deactivated, email still will be delivered to the mailboxes on the server, but users will not be able to send out through or retrieve messages from the idcomm.com mail server. 07/05/2011 - IF YOUR IDCOMM.COM EMAIL ISN'T WORKING... ...it could be that you never contacted SOS4Net to let us know that you wanted to keep it. As was mentioned previously, in order to provide basic support and ad-free webmail, there is now a small charge of $2/month billed annually to keep up to 5 idcomm.com email addresses. Accounts for those who never contacted us are being placed on hold. In this state, emails will still be received on the server until the account is terminated, but will not be accessible to the user. To get the hold removed from your email address(es), please contact us at 303-796-3000 so we may set up your new billing account. Once your payment is received, the hold will be removed and you will again be able to access your emails normally. In an effort to maintain a clean mail server, accounts placed on hold eventually will be terminated and deleted if the account holders do not contact us. 06/28/2011 - PHISHING EMAIL ALERT! It has come to our attention that some users received an email this morning, allegedly from support@idcomm.com, asking them to "verify" their email address by clicking a link. They were told that if they did not do this verification, their email account would be deleted. We will NEVER, EVER ask you to verify your account in that manner. We may ask you to contact us by phone or by email depending upon the situation, but we will never ask for that type of verification over the internet. If you have responded to this email, PLEASE contact us immediately because your email account may have been compromised, and your password will need to be changed as soon as possible. 05/25/2011 - ATTENTION ALL IDCOMM.COM EMAIL USERS! If you have not contacted Scott Or Susie with SOS4Net to let them know you want to keep your idcomm.com email address(es), please do so immediately. All idcomm.com email addresses for those who have not contacted SOS4Net are in the process of being deactivated. As was mentioned in our previous email back in February, you are able to keep your idcomm.com email address(es). However they will no longer be associated with an internet access account, so we must now charge a very small fee in order to continue to provide you with email support as well as ad-free webmail. Emails are being deactivated starting with those for which we have not been contacted at all and that are showing no usage, followed by those with usage for which we have not been contacted, followed lastly by those for which we have been contacted but have not yet paid. 05/15/2011 - ATTENTION IDCOMM.COM WEBMAIL USERS! SSL is back in place for the mail server. You should no longer see the security warning when logging into your webmail. Also you can now check webmail using SquirrelMail, a much nicer webmail interface. If you created folders in sqWebMail, you will need to "subscribe" to them in SquirrelMail. Once logged in, click Folders at the top, then select the folders at the bottom of the following page and click Subscribe. 02/01/2011 - IDCOMM.COM EMAIL ADDRESSES WILL STAY! SOS4Net, who owns the idcomm.com domain name,, has decided to keep the idcomm.com domain so that anyone who wants to keep their idcomm.com email address they've had for years may do so. Because idcomm.com email addresses will no longer be associated with an internet access account, there will be a small fee involved: $3.00/month if billed in 6 month increments, or only $2.00/month if billed annually. Billing for your idcomm.com emails will be through SOS4Net, Inc. (Susie and Scott, both formerly with id Communications), which took over administration of the idcomm.com domain last month. IMPORTANT: If you have not contacted Scott Or Susie with SOS4Net to let them know you want to keep your idcomm.com email address(es), please do so immediately. 01/18/2011 - ID COMMUNICATIONS CLOSES ITS DOORS AFTER 17 YEARS: It saddens us to have to write this letter informing each of you that we are no longer able to stay in business. Id Communications has been working tirelessly with our service providers to keep our doors open while keeping our prices in line with other major ISPs. Most service providers were willing to work with us; however, we hit a brick wall with XO Communications. Without their willingness to negotiate, we cannot continue providing our services to you. Currently most web sites and their associated emails have been moved from the idComm web and email servers. If your web site (i.e. www.your-own-domain.com) or domain email (i.e. you@your-own-domain.com as opposed to you@idcomm.com) has not yet been moved, please contact Scott Or Susie with SOS4Net, Inc. at 303-796-3000 or send email to info@sos4net.com to make arrangements to move your domain web site and email. We expect the idComm servers will be coming offline fairly soon. If you wish to keep your idcomm.com email address(es), please also contact Scott Or Susie with SOS4Net, Inc. at 303-796-3000 or send email to info@sos4net.com. Most high speed internet access customers who have not already found another ISP have been migrated to Forethought.net. If you have signed up with another ISP and want to assure that your idComm account is closed, please send email to accounting@idcomm.com. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience this causes to you; we appreciate all the years of service we have been able to provide to you. Sincerely, id Communications |
