This is what my shack looked like 33 years ago. I put it in the closet next to the washer and dryer (we didn't have a basement).
Small but great,
I had the Drake Twins and this is the era when I discovered DX.
I built my first
beam ever from scrap aluminum following the instructions in Bill Orr's Handbook. I
couldn't afford a tower so I put it on the roof of the house. To my
amazement I could hear stations I'd never heard before with my verticals and dipoles.
Like Australia. Wow.
I was still key-shy and worked only SSB at that time. I had put the key away after
upgrading from Novice in 1962, never to touch one again for years and years. What a shame.
