06/28/2011 - It has come to our attention
that some users received an email this morning, allegedly from
support@idcomm.com, asking them to "verify"
their email address by clicking a link. The email says that if they do not do this
verification, their email account will be deleted. If you have responded to this email, PLEASE contact us immediately
because your email account may have been compromised, and your password will need to be
changed as soon as possible.
You may receive similar
emails alleging to be from eBay, PayPal, your bank, your credit card
company, etc. The intent is always the same, to steal your identity.
Please do not reply to these emails. If you are unsure as to the
validity of the message, please contact the company in question by phone,
be it eBay, PayPal, a bank, or idComm, to verify its authenticity.
More info about phishing
emails scams can be found at the sites listed below or by simply doing
a search on "Phishing Scams" in any search engine such as Yahoo or Google.
Please know that we will
NEVER ask you to send your login credentials via email or click any links to verify your
account. As your
email provider, we already have access to this information. Depending upon the
situation, we may ask you to contact us by phone or by email, but we will never ask for
that type of verification over the internet. Please
do NOT reply and simply delete these emails. You may forward a
copy to us, but in most cases, by the time we receive your forward,
the sender has already been shut down, so there's not much we can do
by then.
Sincerely,
Scott & Susie SOS4Net, Inc.
