07/05/2009 - Emails are
coming in claiming to be from...
"Admin Support Team"
<admin.support@idcomm.com>.
These emails
ARE NOT from id Communications.
This particular message has the following subject...
id
Communications Account Subscriber
...and is "signed"
from "Customer Care Unit, Webmaster Team" at the bottom, a phrase we
never use.
This email is attempting to get our customers to send their email
usernames and passwords by saying the email account will be closed
if they don't reply within 24 hours.
You may receive similar
emails alleging to be from eBay, PayPal, your bank, your credit card
company, etc. The intent is always the same, to steal your identity.
Please do not reply to these emails. If you are unsure as to the
validity of the message, please contact the company in question by phone,
be it eBay, PayPal, a bank, or idComm, to verify its authenticity.
More info about phishing
emails scams can be found at the sites listed below or by simply doing
a search on "Phishing Scams" in any search engine such as Yahoo or Google.
Please know that we will
NEVER ask you to send your login credentials via email because, as your
ISP, we of course have access to this information already. Please
do NOT reply and simply delete these emails. You may forward a
copy to us, but in most cases, by the time we receive your forward,
the sender has already been shut down, so there's not much we can do
by then.
Sincerely,
id Communications
